We read their books, but do we really know the author? Can you guess the author with these hints? He was born in Mississippi on September 25, 1897. He began writing poems when he was a schoolboy and in 1924 he published a poetry collection, The Marble Faun, at his own expense. He wrote The Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying, in 1929 and gained literary acclaim with Light in August. and other titles. He explored in his writing what he called “the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself.” He worked as a screenwriter for MGM, Twentieth Century Fox, and Warner Brothers. In 1950 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.  His later books include Intruder in the Dust, Requiem for a Nun, A Fable. He died of a heart attack on July 6, 1962.
