It’s no surprise that the generation who burned bras and brought about The Summer of Love continues to redefine the way the world thinks about sex. Long-term lovers or one-night stands, there’s nothing those women haven’t tried. And now they dish on some of their dirtiest secrets.
Chock full of revolutionary real-life stories, tantalizing celebrity trivia and Cosmo-esque quizzes, Boomer Babes, wisdom can be put to use by woman of any age.
Hi Maria Grazia Swan
Welcome to Paperback Writer.
Would you share with us how you came up with the idea for your book?
I am single, I work mostly with single women and the occasional man and they all tell me how hard it is to ‘connect’ since I like to see happy people, I made it my mission to play matchmaker and while doing that I collected many details, enough details to get a book out of it.
Was it a light bulb moment or something that you thought about for a very long time?
It was a slow process, it evolved from an ‘how to’ idea to this more entertaining format.
How did you come up with the title?
Ah, that’s not my original title! Editor’s choice
How did you find an agent and publisher?
I belong to many writers’ groups and we were discussing the average age of a New York editor, compared to the age of Boomers. We decided that the best way to sell Boomers’ stories was to find a boomer agent. My agent’s name came up, I query him, he signed me up and sold my proposal to Dorchester
Who reads you work in progress?
A Virtual assistant
Who made a difference in the book’s quality?
Leah Hultenschmidt, my editor
How long did it take you to complete the first draft?
Actually, no first draft, I sold the proposal, about 30% of the book, and then completed the rest in 8 months.
How long did it take from start to publication?
Nearly three years
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never, never give up and don’t take criticism personally, if you want to get published treat writing as a business.
