Carolyn Wolfe is a five time author of children’s books. Her latest book The Bedtime of the Sky and Other Sleepy Bye Stories is a nice book for children of all ages. It can easily be read to toddlers and older children can learn to read it for themselves. There is something for both boys and girls to enjoy, starting with the story “Dolly Dear” and takes us back to a time reminiscent of the old “Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy Stories” where the doll adventures began when the lights were turned off and the children were asleep.
In the second story, If Mom Designed the Universe explains to young children about the planets and how mom would make the universe if she had the chance. In the third story There’s A Dragon in My Sock Drawer raises the question of where do all those socks hide. You’ll be surprised to find out who is behind all those missing socks.
In reading the last story, “There’s A Baby in the Sink,” it’s evident that Carolyn must have had a deep relationship with the women in her family. She talks about them with gratitude and appreciation and uses Grandma in the story to explain about a baby’s tiny size to an older sibling. She also thanks her mother on the acknowledgment page for all her love and support.
The Bedtime of the Sky contains one more story, but I won’t give it away. The book was a delight to read. My daughter and I enjoyed the quick stories that explain or have a message. The stories hold your interest with vibrant colors and designs on each page.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for ideas of what to read to young children. With the approaching holidays, it would make a nice gift for those children on your list.
