She stopped, peered down, and noticed it was a huge sea turtle. Her heart thumped, ba-boom, ba-boom, as she gently stroked the sea turtle.

Quand elle s’est arrêtée, elle a remarqué que c’était une énorme tortue de mer. Son coeur a commencé a battre rapidement pendant qu’elle caressait doucement la tortue.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years I will be a well known children’s author. I will be recognized as the children’s author who has written many books in English, French and Spanish. My books will be used in many foreign language classrooms.
Q: What’s next for you?
My second trilingual book will be published in 2011 by Guardian Angel Publishing. I am currently working on many more trilingual manuscripts. I am also working on ways to promote my second book once it is published in 2011.
Q: Time Frame: From start to finish.
It takes me around three months to complete a picture book manuscript. Once it is written, I set it aside for a few weeks then I revise it and submit it to my critique group. I go through at least two more revisions. I then submit it to a publisher. It will take around 1 1/2 years from the time I submit the book before it is published.
Q: Writer’s Block – If you have ever experienced it – how did you resolve it?
I have experienced writer’s block many times. I usually set the script aside. I go to the library and read a lot of books on the topic I am writing about. Usually after a week or two I go back to the script and I am to get my muse back.
Q: Have you ever abandoned any books/novels in progress?
I have written my memoir and I was about to do a final edit before publishing it, but had to abandon it because I thought it might offend family members. Writing the memoir has proven to be very therapeutic for me.
Q: Who or what was your greatest influence that made you want to be a writer/author?
An author friend of mine talked me into attending a writer’s conference with her; the conference infused me with enough confidence to venture out to write a book. I wrote a children’s picture book because I first learned how to read in English after getting hooked on the Curious George series. It took me six months to learn English after I moved to New York from my native Port-au-Prince Haiti.
