The Little Shepherd by Cheryl C. Malandrinos is a children’s book about the birth of the baby Jesus. It is a book for children of all ages. The story begins with a young boy Obed who with his father tends to their herd of sheep on the mountain ranges above the town where the baby Jesus is born. There appears in the sky a bright light and Angels that deliver a message to Obed and his father and the other sheep herders. It is a spiritual message of Christmas and a time of faith and miracles as young Obed comes to understand what faith really means. We’ll, I’m not going to give any more away, except that the illustrations of the story are vibrant and alive with color and cover each page.
This is a book that brings back the calmness of the Christmas spirit. Sometimes, in the midst of all Santa’s Ho Ho Ho’s and the kids saying “I want this and I want that” one just needs some time to reflect on what we are really celebrating; certainly not the man in the red suit, but the baby Jesus born in a stable amongst the sheep and the cows, who became the “Savior” of all mankind. This is truly the story of Christmas! Thanks Cheryl for sharing it with us.
